Cheap Chic Wedding Ideas

Everybody LOVES a wedding and here at Britain Does Vintage we certainly know how to throw a good party! But with the average wedding costing over £20,000 it’s no wonder that many grooms are choosing not to go down on bended knee! Well fear not you can have the big day that you always dreamt about, at a fraction of the cost. Just don’t drink too much bubbly on the day and tell everyone your wedding secrets!

Buy a Bespoke Dress

Yes really … a bespoke dress can actually workout far less expensive than a dress off the peg! York based award winning designer Rebecca Downes hand-woven silk dresses start from as little as £350!

Not only will it fit perfectly, but it will also be one of a kind! In fact I’m sure if you took Rebecca (winner of The Wedding Guide – Outstanding Customer Service Award) she’d be able to make your dream dress from your childhood doodles!

Call on your Hens

We spoke to Rebecca who’s actually getting married herself next year for her cost saving tips!

“I’m getting together with friends and family at my mum’s to hand make bunting and table decorations (whilst drinking wine!) We’re using bits of fabric from relatives’ dresses and christening gowns, along with a box of buttons we found at my nanas after she’d passed away. I like the thought that there are things around that mean something” What a wonderful idea!

Serve High Tea

A 3-course meal costs around £75 per person; by serving high tea it will give your wedding a wonderful quintessentially English feel as well as dramatically reducing your costs.
